I have been so frustrated with some of what my children come home from school telling me.  My friend touches on this in his latest blog post.  Check it out.  We need some action here.  The difference between what my child in the gifted magnet school is taught (and the way she is taught it) and the way my other children are taught is night and day.  Today I was ruminating on this, and the thought crossed my mind that great teachers and administrators are more important than rock stars to their students (okay, to the elementary ones), as well they should be- and so should they be to us all.  And I thought about some way to praise these people, these schools: Rock Star Schools, Rock Star Teachers, a Rock Star Principal, or Secretary.  Some kind of program that gives a real and meaningful reward to those folks who are half raising the next generation.  Why doesn’t the 10K/student/year go to the important stuff?
